We Will Guide You Through The Process

Children's Dignity Week is a special Lions world week of service that will run from August 30th thru September 5th this year. It is part of Lions' Clubs International Centennial Celebration and will give Lions from around the world an opportunity to share in service activities that promote the dignity of the most vulnerable members of society: children.

My club, the Deptford Lions, will be donating a complete set of Brad Meltzer's children's books to the Deptford Library. Mr. Meltzer's books are biographies of people who had a positive impact on our world. His simple message is "one person can change the world". So far he has written books about Rosa Parks, Jackie Robinson, Amelia Earhart, Albert Einstein, Lucille Ball, Martin Luther King and Helen Keller. These books are filled with drawings depicting the hurdles these individuals overcame and are written for beginning readers. As Mr. Meltzer has said, "children need heroes" and what better heroes than the people he has written about.

While not recognized as heroes, local Lions Club members do great work every week to improve their community and the world. Some superheroes wear a cape but others only wear a Lions pin. I encourage everyone who wants to help improve their community to find a local Lions club and join in the fun and satisfaction volunteering will bring to you!
